26 April 2010

'Fight for Justice'

ITV's London Tonight featured Sharon Coleman's groundbreaking case on her fight against discrimination by association with a disabled person.

The long-running case of Sharon Coleman v Attridge Law has recently settled, after 5 years of litigation, including two trips to the Employment Appeal Tribunal and one to the European Court of Justice. The case established that people associated with disabled people (such as carers) have protection from direct discrimination and harassment under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. Sharon Coleman received £12,000 under the terms of the settlement.
