Neil has specialised in professional regulatory work for over nine years. He is highly experienced in the investigation of matters of professional misconduct, and works to prepare such matters for hearing before disciplinary committees and tribunals. He has experience of working in the human healthcare, veterinary and legal sectors, acting on behalf of statutory and voluntary regulators. He also represents regulated individuals facing investigation by their regulators. He prepares and presents training to statutory committees.

  • Investigated the case against two registrants of a statutory regulator where the allegations of misconduct arose from the same series of events
  • Investigated multiple cases on behalf of a non-statutory regulator relating to failings by healthcare practitioners
  • Defended a healthcare professional during the investigation by a statutory regulator of allegations of serious professional misconduct
  • Represented the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in multiple appeals to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, including one in relation to a vet who had been struck off following a conviction for conspiracy to commit fraud
  • Represented a regulator in an appeal to the High Court brought by a registrant in the first such appeal under the relevant statutory regime
